Highlights of new policy on private investment

07-27-2010 14:03 BJT

Let's take a closer look at the four key areas analysts say are the most significant breakthroughs for private investment.

Firstly, the new policies have broken monopoly practices in some industries. Private investment is now allowed to enter the fundamental industry and infrastructure field.

Secondly, private investment is permitted to establish financial institutions and participate in the fundraising of commercial banks.

Thirdly, China will encourage and guide private companies across regions and industries to merge so as to make them more competitive. Private investment will also be channeled into the restructuring of state-owned enterprises.

Additionally, the government also allows private investment to enter the field of public affairs and certain housing construction such as affordable housing.
