China's leading gold producer Zijin Mining Group has been ordered to curb gold production after a toxic spill in East China's Fujian province.
The producer was told to maintain low production levels, in order to reduce wastewater and ease pressure on the environment as well as to prepare for typhoons. The company produced 75 tonnes of gold last year. The restriction is expected to decrease annual production by 1 tonne.
Trading in H-shares of Zijin Mining has been suspended since Monday and resumed trading today.
