Taiwan is expecting the ECFA, or Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement with the mainland, to bring 29 trillion new Taiwan dollars of business opportunities to the island. And Taiwan's economic authorities are pledging all out efforts to facilitate local enterprises to grasp those opportunities.

Agriculture is one pillar industry for southern Taiwan. Now 18 agricultural products are on the "early harvest list" which will enjoy zero tariffs in three years time, from the current 13.3 percent.

Taiwan says this will greatly boost its agricultural industry. By that time, Taiwan's agricultural exports to the mainland is expected to rise seven fold to over 100 million US dollars.
