The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers says the country's annual production and sales of new autos, will surpass 15 million vehicles this year.

Auto sales in China continued to rise in July, though at a slower pace than in previous months. Growth slowed from 124 percent in January to 40 percent in April and to 17.18 percent in July.

The association attributes the rapid growth in auto sales during the first several months this year to last year's low comparison base. It says it's not representative of the true picture in the industry.
