Drought caused by climate change may have lowered Thailand's rice production this year.
The Thai Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives says the drought has forced farmers to delay in-season rice planting. The total production is likely to be affected but a sharp drop is not expected. Off-season rice harvest will be slightly affected depending on water reserve.
The minister has also says he's instructed related agencies to assist farmers, urging them to temporarily suspend rice harvest on severely-plagued fields.
