Thailand's Consumer Confidence Index continued to increase in July, for a third consecutive month. The index figure of 71.4 was the highest in six months.
The Center for Economic and Business Forecasting attributes the increase to lower domestic oil prices, increased interest rates and strong export growth. It also says consumer confidence in economic prospects for the next six months is on the rise. The center expected consumer spending to surge in the third quarter.
It also noted that consumers are still concerned about the overall global economic recovery, and domestic political instability.
