China's industrial sector consumed 290 billion kilowatt hours electricity in July, up 8 percent compared to previous month.
The China Electricity Council says heavy industry power use reached 243 billion kilowatt hours, up by 9 percent. Light industries' power consumption recorded 46 billion kilo-watt hours, up by 2 percent from the previous month.

The increase in power consumption suggests China's industries are developing steadily without signs of a double dip recession. But it also indicates the structural balance between heavy and light industries needs adjustment.
