3G: Battlefield for operators

08-19-2010 13:53 BJT

With all the new technology and products, what's attracting the most attention at the 2010 Internet Conference? That would be 3G mobile telecom technology.

3G technology is a fierce battlefield for the three major operators in China - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom. In the main exhibition hall, advertisements with "3G" and "mobile internet" are everywhere.

China Telecom is already in the final stages of introducing Palm mobile phones after Blackberry. China Mobile is also in negotiations with Apple, hoping its self-developed 3G technology can be applied to the iPhone. And as for China Unicom, it's discussing the details of introducing the iPhone4, expected out on the Chinese market in September.
