China's telecom regulator is requiring three major telecom operators to lower telecom fees. The operators will look into improving technology and innovation, when tackling the difficulties in developing 3G operations.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says it will continue to carry out reform of telecom charges this year. China's telecom costs have been falling since 2003. Industry insiders say it will be a continuing downward trend, and they have felt the push from the government.
Earlier, the State Council encouraged private investment to start businesses in the telecom industry. It's hoped their involvement will further push down prices.
