Australia and Japan were named the most desirable holiday destinations in the Asia Pacific. That's according to an annual online survey released Wednesday. The mainland replaced Hong Kong in third place.
Tourists said they were drawn by the allure of visiting new places, beautiful natural scenery, affordability and great food. Self-organized travel was the top style for people from the United States, Britain, Australia and Singapore. It also showed that Australian travellers were most likely to take the longest trips.
The survey also found nearly half the number of travellers arranged their own trips by booking directly with hotels and airlines. The information is crucial for holiday destinations and product marketers.
