China's top economic planning body has outlined investment plans, and growth targets for the country's central regions for the next five years.
The National Development and Reform Commission, or NDRC, listed a series of industrial and infrastructure projects for six central provinces. They include an 800 thousand tonne ethylene plant in Wuhan, and a 680 thousand tonne p-Xylene plant in Luoyang.
The Commission also says by 2015, per capita GDP in these densely populated provinces, should reach 36 thousand yuan, or 5 thousand 300 U.S. dollars. That's more than double from their average level in 2008. The six provinces are Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan.
