The Sichuan to East China Natural Gas transmission project, has begun "commercial" operations. Sinopec took 3 years to develop the pipeline, and China's second green energy artery required total investment of 63 billion yuan.
Including secondary and spur pipelines, the project now runs a total length of 2,250 kilometres. It transmits natural gas from the Pu-guang field, one of China's largest gas fields in Sichuan, to the eastern costal city of Shanghai.
It passes through six provinces and two municipalities across the country. 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be sent every year to over 70 cities along the line, benefiting 200 million people.
