Regular cross-strait direct flights have not only allowed tourists to enjoy more favorable airfares but it's also boosting Taiwan's housing industry.
Tuesday marked the one year anniversary since China's mainland and Taiwan launched regular direct flights. Since then, many newly-built buildings have been promoted to mainland consumers.
Shanghai's and Taipei's airports had the first direct flight in June this year. The price of homes around the Songshan airport district in Taipei have increased by over ten percent in that time. Taiwan's convenient transport systems on the island have attracted yet more investment in its housing market.
It is expected that direct flights will encourage business people who work in the mainland to commute from homes in Taiwan. Additionally, a lot of investors have turned their focus to commercial properties.
