G20 economies expected to do more for world economy

09-14-2010 08:54 BJT Special Report:2010 Summer Davos |

Emerging economies in the G-20 are leading the world out of the financial crisis. At this year's Summer Davos forum, delegates are discussing how G20 members can further cooperation, and rebuild confidence in the global market and economic management.

Over the past two years, the role of emerging economies in addressing the global financial crisis has been widely recognized.

Cui Tiankai, Vice Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said "All Asian countries in G20 have done relatively better than other G20 members. They are making greater contribution to the world. Asian countries should make use of their former experience while paying attention to the changing environment, to contribute more to G20."

As for the risks facing the global economy, delegates think they've been reduced through efforts from all countries.

Zhu Min, Special Adviser of International Monetary Fund said "The global operating system almost collapsed. But these systemic risks have decreased largely. The capital structure is getting better. The sovereign debt problems are easing despite the European debt crisis. So the overall risks are down."

Delegates also think, to make the global economy more inclusive, countries should carry out agreements and continue cooperation as well as reforms in international finance.

G20 economies are expected to make more commitments at the Seoul summit. A stable environment is called for to ensure the sustainable development of the world economy.
