Thirty odd years ago, Warrior basketball sneakers were a highly sought after status symbol in China. Chinese teenagers dreamed of owning a pair. And now after disappearing from the shelves, they're back, much more modern and affordable than before.

Mr Wu is a Shanghai local. This classic design from the 1980s reminds him of the best time in his life. Wu says for him, the sneakers are more than just shoes.

Visitors to this Warrior flagship store are surprised the brand has returned. Colorful, modern, novel, and artistic are words that spring to mind.

One resident in Shanghai said "The look is more modern and suits the younger generation."

Warrior dates back as far as 1927, and was the first sneaker maker. In the years between 1970 and 1990, wearing this brand was alla mode. Its glorious return is aiming to draw the young consumers.

One resident in Shanghai said "The brand value is here as once it was. But newly-injected innovations put this brand to the edge of fashion."

A new design, and new price. Warriors are now much more affordable. They can own their own for just 20 or 30 yuan. Other sneakers are 70 or 80 yuan.

For high-end consumers, Warrior can customize a pair for 800 yuan.
