11-11-2010 09:01 BJT Special Report:China’s Economic Data for Oct. |

An increasing amount of China's foreign trade is being done, with the country's western and central regions. Trade there is growing about ten percent faster than the national average.

In China's southwestern city of Chongqing, the structure of foreign trade is undergoing changes.

Now, the city, previously famous for its exportation of cars and motorcycles, electronic products are now constituting an increasingly greater portion of its export. It has an expected foreign trade volume of 100 billion US dollars this year.

Shen Yang, Official of Chongqing Customs said "Previously exporting a full container of motorcycles was worth only 40 thousand US dollars. Now a container of notebooks is worth 1.4 million dollars."

China's central region is also doing well in foreign trade. In Jiangxi Province, foreign trade growth totaled 81.9 percent during the first ten months.

Zheng Yuesheng, Official of General Admin. of Customs said "China's middle and western regions are growing at higher paces, in both high-added value products and labor intensive products."

Meantime, China's eastern region still retains the dominant position, thanks to its geographical advantage.

During the first 10 month of this year, 7 provinces in the region contributed more than eighty percent of the country's total foreign trade.
