Figures announced Thursday morning show China is facing higher inflationary pressures. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China's Consumer Price Index, a figure that gauges inflation, has risen 4.4 percent in October.

Consumer inflation accelerated to 4.4 percent year-on-year in October. It's the highest in two years. The NBS cites a carry-over effect from last year, as well as a hike in food prices of over 10 percent.

Data also shows the producer price index, which shows factory-gate inflation, rose 5 percent in October compared to last month.

But the National Development and Reform Commission said earlier this week that China has abundant reserves to curb the rise in food prices.
