Inflation hits China's service sector

02-15-2011 11:38 BJT Special Report:China’s Economic Data for Jan. |

Some experts say inflation in China is spreading from raw materials and necessities, to the country's service sectors.

Take the price of having your car washed in Shenzhen, the fee has doubled in just one month. Experts say it's all related. Rising service fees are caused, in part, by surging costs of raw materials and labor. Some also warn that China still faces a tough outlook, in terms of spreading inflationary pressures.

Qu Jian, Director of China Development Inst., Shenzhen said "The inflation has its own inertia. When it erupted, it will last for a long period of time. China's inflation this time is mainly caused by imported ingredients, so domestic control measures will serve limited effects to tame the inflation. So we expect China's inflation is to exist in the first half of the year, considering the global food and raw materials price surges."
