A series of sub-indices in the non-manufacturing PMI show inflationary pressure is still strong, and that's narrowing profitability.

The input prices sub-index fell one notch to 64.5 in February, but remains at a very high level. And the index gauging service charge prices rose to 55.8. The reading follows a set of manufacturing PMI showing factory input prices rose to three-month highs in February, despite moderation in manufacturing activity to the slowest pace in six months.

Cai Jin, Vice Chairman of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing said "Input prices remain at a high level. This means cost pressure is tough for the whole sector. On the other hand, February's data also shows service charge prices didn't rise too much. So profitability is being narrowed under rising costs and limited prices. We should pay more attention to this problem."
