China calls for global efforts to stabilize markets

China has urged relevant nations to take concrete and responsible policies to resolve debt problems and maintain global investors confidence.

The call was made at a State Council executive meeting, presided over by Premier Wen Jiabao, and follows the extreme volatility in equity markets from Wall Street to Europe to here in Asia.

The meeting reveals that China will take the necessary steps to stabilize financial markets, in line with the joint statement issued by members of the Group of 20.

China has also urged international cooperation to push forward a sustainable and balanced growth of global economy.
