U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will visit China on Wednesday, at his counterpart, Xi Jinping's, invitation. Biden's trip will be the first to China by a high-level U.S. official since its debt problem took a turn for the worse.

Some expect that Biden may make some promises to the Chinese government in order to reassure its largest holder of debt - that is, of course, after Standard and Poor's downgraded the U.S. credit rating and triggered volatility in global stock markets.

China berated Washington earlier this month after its near-default, and said it hopes for the sound management of the nation's fiscal problems.

Jin Canrong, professor from School of Int’l Studies of Renmin University said, "Biden's major task is to see wether China is really annoyed by the U.S. credit rating downgrade, as China is America's biggest debtor. China's attitude is of great significance for them."
