Wednesday's offering was the third time RMB treasury bonds have been issued in Hong Kong. Li Yong, China's Vice Minister of Finance, says that with the global economy facing an increasing number of uncertainties, the dim sum bond sales show confidence in the RMB and China's economy.

Li Yong said, "Vice Premier Li Keqiang says that issuing RMB treasury bonds in Hong Kong will be a long term initiative, and more are expected in the future. We will cooperate with Hong Kong's local government to put it into practice and come up with more regulations. Through issuing the bonds, we can see that confidence in RMB from investors all over the world is growing, it helps us to build Hong Kong as an offshore RMB center."
