With the failure of the congressional Super Committee to agree on a way to reduce U.S. debt, ordinary Americans are becoming more and more disillusioned with their political leaders.

According to latest Gallup poll, more than half of those surveyed believe members of Congress should compromise in issues like tax, federal spending and debt, and to step up a deficit reduction plan as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, around 50 percent of respondents also blame the super committee for the collapsed negotiation. Many say the Republicans should be held responsible.

The poll also shows, more than half of Americans, doubt the ability of the Congress to solve the debt situation.

Meanwhile, the support rate of the U.S. parliament has fallen to a historical low, of around 9 percent. Some even say they’ve lost confidence in the American political system altogether.
