To further open China’s financial markets, China’s securities regulator has pledged to further develop the derivatives markets. There are also plans to roll out more equity, bond and fund related products that would boost investment choices and hedging options for investors.

Plans for more reform to further open up of China’s capital markets are underway. The Chairman of China’s Securities Regulatory Commission says it would consider launching government bond futures and commodities-related futures such as oil and silver in a bid to develop China’s still young derivatives market.

There are also a whole slew of other plans on the agenda such as less bureaucracy when it comes to dealing with administrative issues when interacting with the commission as well as more supervision of the financial markets.

Guo Shuqing, chairman of CSRC, said, "China’s financial markets need to arrive at a point where investors can determine the risk and the price of a security without much trouble and that risks are as transparent as possible. We’re also aiming to increase financial supervision and are making an effort to cut down administrative layers to better serve market participants.

The CSRC is also aiming for more diversification of systemic risk in China’s banking sector encouraging long term institutional investors such as pension funds to increase their participation in the country’s equity markets.

There’s also talk of reforming the delisting and re-listing process.

Guo Shuqing, chairman of CSRC, said, "There needs to be reform of the delisting and re-listing process. If a company wishes to list on another board, or if the company delists, and gets its financial house in order and re-lists again, that shouldn’t be a problem and we need a concrete set of regulations to govern this process.”

Last year, two new financial products were introduced to China’s financial arsenal to give domestic investors more hedging options, credit default swaps and stock index futures. Analysts say that, step by step, China is further deepening its capital markets as more reforms continue to reshape the country’s financial future.
