Beijing's Spring International Property Expo has concluded its four day session. The event, which is seen as a barometer of the property market, attracted 140,000 visitors, but many proved to be still too cautious to take the plunge amid a wait-and-see market sentiment.

Organizers say discounts were deeper at this year’s expo but some buyers complained they weren’t as deep as expected, and most homes on offer were located in suburban areas.

Meantime, more than 130 overseas developers attended the event, in the hopes of attracting speculative buyers which are pretty much shut out of China’s market, to purchase homes as investments abroad.

Industry insiders say that for those looking to buy properties outside of China, the US, Australia, and Canada are the most popular markets.
