The RMB opened slightly weaker on Thursday, following three consecutive trading days of record-high fixings. But the spot market remains firmly entrenched in the narrow range it has been hovering in since mid-March.

The mid-point for the currency was set at 6.2697 in the morning, compared with 6.2670 on Wednesday. Traders say they’re weighing economic developments away from China and at home when pricing the yuan.

They note that although the euro and other currencies weakened against the dollar in overnight trading, the new fixing was set only slightly below the record high set on Wednesday.
