Greek socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos says Greece has formed a government after talks with conservative leader Antonis Samaras. Samaras, leader of the New Democracy Party, will be sworn in today as premier of the country’s new coalition government.

Other details are still being worked out and will be finalized later on Wednesday.

Evangelos Venizelos, head of the Socialist PASOK party, addresses his lawmakers during a
meeting at the party's headquarters in Athens June 20, 2012.

The deal follows protracted negotiations between the conservative New Democracy party, the Socialist PASOK and the smaller Democratic Left party, after a national election last Sunday. New Democracy won the vote but needs other parties to form a majority coalition.

The parties are still discussing the new government’s policy platform, and who will be given cabinet positions.
