Ms Cheng Lei returns to CCTV News where she began her journalism career, after nine years with CNBC as their China correspondent.

She began her career in finance in Australia, holding accountant and business analyst roles with Cadbury Schweppes and ExxonMobil from 1995 to 2000. But it wasn't until returning to China in 2001 as business analyst for a sino-Australian logistics joint venture that she gained a taste for the stories behind China's fast-changing economy.
From 2002, Lei began reporting on China's business and economic issues, conducting one-on-one interviews with CEOS and political figures, producing package stories and providing daily market reports. Aside from reporting in English on China stories, she has also broadcasted in Mandarin on global markets to a Chinese audience.
Lei is an Australian government accredited translator between Chinese and English, as well as a Certified Practising Accountant.
