China considers to impose property tax on 3rd houses

China's taxation regulator is considering imposing a property tax on third houses, according to Shanghai Securities News today.

The newspaper says the planned adjustment to taxation rules will see third homes viewed as part of a business operation.

The Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Taxation is to explore policies that can rationalize individual housing consumption and reign in profits made in the property sector.

The focus will be on flexibility, and being able to treat each case on an individual basis.

Experts say if the change is made, it is certain to put pressure on home owners who have three or more houses.
