China's disaster relief headquarters says heavy rain across southern China over the past ten days has now killed 175 people with 107 others missing. More than 25 million people have been affected.
But there may be some relief in sight after China's National Meteorological Center lowered its alert level on Monday to the lowest as the storms began to abate. However, disaster prevention and relief work is still needed as many rivers and lakes in the country are above danger levels.
Heavy rain and storms, are still expected over the next two days in many parts of the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong and Yunnan, and Guizhou and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regions.
