Hit by rainstorms and floods, expressways, railways and national highways in Yingtan city, Jiangxi province, have been washed out.

Two 10-meter long bridges over the Yu River have been destroyed by the floodwater. These two bridges belong to the Shanghai to Kunming expressway and the traffic there has been totally shut down.

The Shanghai to Kunming expressway has been destroyed by the rising floodwater, leaving a wide gap more than 30 meters in length. Floodwater has been rushing into the surrounding farmland through the gap. The gap is getting wider. Another part of the expressway has also been washed out. This gap is wider than 10 meters and traffic can't pass. Policemen have started directing traffic.

Gong Junwu, traffic policeman, Jiangxi province, said, "At around 6 this morning, a bus dropped into the river after the expressway was destroyed. The situation on the bus is not clear. Now we are directing traffic on both sides of the gap. "

After more than 20 hours of repair work part of the gap has been repaired. Single direction traffic has resumed. The water level of the Yu River is dropping to normal levels. Some farmland that was submerged in the morning is now clear of water.
