The European Union has issued a notice in its official journal that it has launched an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese ceramic tiles.

The European Commission says the probe will determine whether imports of ceramic tiles from China were being dumped on the EU market.

It will also help determine whether to impose anti-dumping duties. The results will be announced on March 19 next year.

The notice claimed that the volume and prices of imported products has caused a negative impact on the production and market share of European ceramic producers.

Chinese ceramic producers are entitled to issue a protest within 15 days and are expected to hand over paperwork detailing sale volumes and prices to Europe between April 1, 2009 to March 31. 2010.

The investigation was launched after a complaint was lodged by the European Ceramic Tile Manufacturers' Federation in May.
