And let's hear a few responses from Taiwan. Some media on the island have spoken highly of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement.

CD News put out a commentary hailing the quick formulation of the pact. UDN says the agreement is "a historic event and the most important step taken to normalize trade ties." Meanwhile, Want Daily says "The ECFA laid the foundation for healthier development of Cross-Strait ties." The Taipei Times quoted a Japanese analyst as saying "The ECFA is like a vitamin pill for the Taiwan economy."

CDN commentary said, "Congratulations to the top negotiators from both sides. They've reached a consensus in just five months."

UND said, "A historic event, and the most important step taken is to normalize trade ties."

WAnt Daily said, "The ECFA lays the foundation for healthier development of Cross-Strait ties."

Taipei Times said, "The ECFA is like vitamin to Taiwan's economy."
