1. Good evening Professor. The central government has just held a work conference regarding the development of China's western areas. President Hu Jintao has set up general goals to boost growth in the western areas. How do you understand the significance of this move?
2. Premier Wen says the government will reduce 15% of the tax levied on the kind of businesses encouraged by the state. Social services will also be improved. The western areas will also enjoy preferential policies previously enjoyed by the coastal areas. Do you think these will boost growth in the western provinces？
