Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari is continuing his visit to China. Premier Wen Jiabao and top political advisor Jia Qinglin have met with the Pakistani leader, with both sides agreeing to further their cooperation on economy, technology, and security.
Cooperation was the main theme of Thursday's meetings.
Premier Wen Jiabao said history has proven that the friendship between China and Pakistan is solid. He said that strengthening bilateral trade cooperation is in the interest of the two peoples. The Chinese government attaches great importance to this and is willing to work with Pakistan to make concrete plans to push it forward.
Wen Jiabao stressed the significance of providing guarantees for major infrastructure building projects in terms of policies, finance and security. He called for a better use of the advantages and market mechanism of the China-Pakistan free trade zone.
Zardari said Pakistan is ready to cooperate with China in economy, infrastructure construction and culture, as well as the fight against terrorism.
In his meeting with Pakistani President Zardari, top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin said China appreciates Pakistan's firm support for China on issues concerning China's core interests. He said the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is willing to promote communication with different Pakistani organizations and individuals to expand cultural exchanges, especially to enhance mutual understanding among the youth between the two countries.
