Continuous downpours since Sunday have cut-off more than 100 homes in Jiangxia County in Hubei Province.

All the roads leading to Mashanwan are flooded.

Waist high water has made it impossible for any vehicles to get in.

Walking to the village across higher ground is difficult and dangerous but it is the only way to get in.

Most villagers have left their houses, and managed to take some belongings with them.

A villager in Mashanwan, Hubei, said, "We moved them out last night, our furniture, washing machine are still inside the house, flooded. I slept here last night. "

Water is as deep as one or two meters. Villagers say firefighters spent more than two hours moving residents out by boat.

A firefighter said, "When you get in and see people, just tell them to wait, we will go and get them out, we need to move the people out first, things are less important. "

The whole village was inundated. Children and the elderly were waiting.

These eight people were the last to be saved.

Rescuers say they took out 130 people and some items such as refrigerators and TV sets.
