The total population of central China's Henan province has reached one hundred million. It becomes the first province in the country to break the population mark.
Henan has always been the province with large population. Its huge population has restricted the province's efforts to improve living conditions of its people and the economy. Reaching the 100 million mark was delayed for about 13 years thanks to the family planning policy.
The governor of Henan said that the province will continue to implement the family planning policy. Their target is to control the province's population within 101 million at the end of 2010, and within 107 million at the end of 2020.
