Continuous rain has caused problems in Yue'xi county in east China's Anhui Province. And a rain-caused landslide on National Highway 105 in Yue'xi on Sunday made conditions much worse.
Around 7 o'clock Sunday morning, over 12,000 cubic meters of mud and stone suddenly poured down from the rain hit mountain alongside National Highway 105. Some fell onto the highway blocking the road. But luckily no one was hurt.
After the landslide, the local government quickly sent rescue teams to the scene.
Rong Guangsheng, head of local police, said, "When we heard the news, we dispatched 7 loading machines and 4 bulldozers there to help remove the mud and stone."
Due to the large quantity of mud and stone as well as the narrow road, only one machine could work on the road to dig the mud and stone. The rest of them were used to carry the debris away piece by piece greatly slowing down the speed of repair work.
The blocked road caused big problems for travellers. Local traffic police set up roadblocks to warn people not to travel any further. They also helped passers-by to figure out alternative routes to their destinations.
After 8-hour's hard work in the rain, rescue teams finally cleared the road around 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
