In China, more than a million people are working as Internet writers. Staying at home and free to arrange their own schedules, it sounds like a relaxing job that many people would envy. But is that really the case?

Sansheng Wansu is an Internet writer. This is his fourth keyboard in only two years.

An internet writer Sansheng Wanwu said, It is a long, tough journey. It's like a monk practicing his skills. It's repetitive and sometimes even tedious. But it's my job and I have to do it.

He says he can write 30-thousand words in a day at his very best, but the record is an impressive 70-thousand in one day.

Another Internet writer A'telei hasn't left his room for one and a half months, as he is working on his latest chapters.

Internet writers have been toiling and moiling for a reason.

Wei Tong, Chief Supervisor, China Media Time Co,. Ltd, said, For example, one writer may have written a work of seven thousand words, another has just two thousand words. I will read the seven thousand word work first. They have been working so hard just for survival.

The Internet literature industry has its own way of calculating an authors remuneration. Every thousand words earns an author two cents. Under the rules, when a writer writes one thousand words and a reader has subscribed to his work, he only earns one cent.

A writer A'telei said, Sometimes I just feel sick when I get up and I can not eat a thing.

Such gruelling work poses sever threats to writers health. Rushing to meet deadlines every day and meeting editors requirements can kill creativity.
