07-21-2010 09:51 BJT

The even/odd plates policy has been adopted for four days in Guangzhou. Monday was the first working day since the scheme was launched. How is it going, and what is the traffic situation in the city?

Of the 202 million private cars in Guangzhou, about 40% of them have been restricted from going on the road.

Many residents feel traffic situation is much better.

"It's much better than before. It usually takes about 20 minutes, today is only 10 minutes. "

Many people who used to drive their cars to work chose public transport or taxis instead. But some complained about time spent waiting for the buses. in response, local government has added an extra 554 buses every day, and more taxis are being operated to satisfy the needs of residents.

To remind those nonlocal car drivers, signs have put up on several parts of the highway, and information on the policy has been published in the press.
