More than 9,000 passengers were held up over the weekend at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in southwestern China's Sichuan Province due to torrential rainstorms.
A total of 11 flights were canceled and almost 100 flights delayed Sunday. There was a similar situation on Saturday also. More than 200 flights were delayed and 20 canceled for the same reason. More than 10 thousand passengers were stranded on Saturday. The knock-on effects led to longer delays on Sunday and some flights were postponed to Monday.
