The death of the panda Quanquan has shocked many people. Her death is believed to be connected with a former air-raid shelter. But how is it possible that this shelter could be responsible for the death of a panda?
There's no entrance to be seen for the old shelter near the panda enclosure. An old man living close to the zoo offers some clues.
A nearby resident said, "It's underground and it's quite large."
The old man also says the former air-raid shelter is used for storage. It was disinfected and the gas spread to the panda enclosure.
There's a hut in the woods near the place where the pandas are kept. According to the old man, it is used as ventilation for the shelter. However, no entrance can be found.
A local resident said, "The entrances are over there. All have been sealed."
The panda enclosure and air-raid shelter's connection was not released on Monday at a press briefing.
The police are still investigating the case.
