The death toll from a rain-triggered landslide in Northwest China's Gansu Province has risen to 137 as of Monday afternoon. Torrential rain began lashing Zhouqu county Saturday night.
The Bailong River, which runs through the region, burst its banks, triggering floods and mudslides just after midnight, affecting 47-thousand people. Over 13-hundred local residents are still missing.
Thousands of rescuers from local governments and military bases have been arriving at affected areas since Sunday morning. More than 1,200 residents have been rescued and evacuated to get medical treatment.
