The General Administration of Customs has made changes to the amount of duty tax payable on imported post purchases. From September 1st, charges will be imposed on purchases over 50 Yuan. Those under 50 Yuan will be exempt.
The Office says the changes have been made to regulate and promote overseas purchasing on the Internet. The current duty collection point from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan is 400 yuan.
It's 500 Yuan from other countries and regions. The value allowed for post in or out of China remains unchanged. That's 800 Yuan for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 1000 Yuan from other countries and regions.
