Officials say they never announced any plans to rebuild Zhouqu, the county ravaged by a deadly mudslide ten days ago in southwest China's Sichuan province.
A press conference was held Wednesday, denying earlier media reports the county would be built on its original site. Zhao Minxue, a party official from the Gannan Autonomous Prefecture government, says the government has yet to launch any reconstruction plans.
Some media quoted a local official as saying they would not move Zhouqu county anywhere else. The reports raised concerns and disputes about the safety of the reconstruction plan.
