The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or SCO, has ended the Peace Mission 2010 multinational anti-terror military drill. It launched a night-time operation to simulate clearing out "terrorists" on Friday evening.

The exercise included support by artillery and eight armed helicopters from Kazakhstan, Russia, and China.

On the ground, tanks and infantry vehicles surrounded and defeated the mock terrorists under the fading light of star shells.

The final operation started at 8 P.M.Friday, and lasted for 30 minutes.

This was the first time SCO members integrated a night-time maneuvering program into their joint military drills, a new milestone for coordination between troops from the participating countries.

Major General Wu Yansheng, PLA Vice General Director, said, "The lighting for night-time combat is poor. So we used star shells in the drill. The objective is to wipe out the enemy instantly. We've combined the air force and the land force, including helicopters, tank guns, and infantry vehicles."
