01-18-2011 09:38 BJT

The highway toll evasion case caused a lot of dispute as to whether the suspect Shi Jianfeng should be convicted of fraud and sentenced to life. Now, the court will begin a retrial. Earlier we spoke to the deputy president of the Henan Higher People's court to tells us what law the judges should refer to.

Tian Liwen, Deputy head of Higher People's Court, Henan Province, said, "The seventh amended penal draft indicates that if forging, stealing, buying or selling military vehicle license plates, the suspect will be sentenced to less than three years in prison. And if the circumstances are serious, they will be sentenced to three to seven years. Previously, the suspect was convicted of fraud, however, as the draft clearly says, the jury should convict the suspect of illegally using plates."
