Rome deal for Confucius Institutes

In order to better promote Chinese culture, as well as the teaching and learning of the language at Confucius Institutes, Beijing Foreign Studies University has signed an agreement with the University of Rome at La Sapienza.

Wednesday's deal highlights this goal, along with new strategies for reaching the program's objectives. This is an important step toward building stronger capabilities for promoting Chinese culture, and is consistent with the new requirements by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. The University of Rome at La Sapienza is one of the earliest international universities to teach Chinese, first offering courses around 1903. The Confucius Institute at URLS officially opened to public in September 2006.
