Recent months have seen increasing attempts to help find lost children through the use of microblogs. Thanks to these efforts, a boy from central China's Hubei Province has been reunited with his family. CCTV reporter Andrew Dupuis takes a look at what his father and other kind hearted people have done to make the miracle possible.

For the seven-year-old boy, Pei Wenle, the nightmare is finally over.

He was abducted three years ago outside his father's supermarket in the city of Shenzhen, southern China's Guangdong Province.

Since then, his father Peng Gaofeng, did not give up efforts to find him.

He traveled to many major cities in China on leads he was given, only to have these hopes dashed when they led him nowhere.

Then, he turned to the microblog for help.

The turning point came when a college student called him, saying he saw a boy who was likely his son.

Accompanied by a journalist, he took off on his journey to find him.

To Mr Peng's disappointment, when they arrived in Shenzhen, they were told the child was somewhere else. Mr Peng felt as if he was setting himself up for disappointment once again.

But this time was to be different.

Deng Fei, Phoenix Weekly, said, "We were told the child was in a village four kilometers away, but we had to wait for the police to rescue him. So we waited for three days. Much to our excitement, the child turned out to be Mr Peng's son."

When police asked the child whether he knew Mr Peng, he admitted it was.

Tears of happiness rolled down Mr. Peng's face, putting an end to years of pain.

A hug was all it took to bring the family together at last.

But this is just a single story. There are hundreds if not thousands of abducted children still desperate for help.

Authorities say there are many reasons for why children are abducted in China. Many children are put to work, while some are forced to participate in different forms of entertainment.
