Video: Tian Wei interviews Yang Lan: People at core of China's soft power

03-04-2011 20:18 BJT

Let's continue our focus on China's soft power. Earlier my colleague Tian Wei spoke with CPPCC National Committee Member, Yang Lan. She's a media celebrity and has been involved in multiple big international events to promote China's national image. Let's see what she thinks is China's soft power.

Yang Lan, CPPCC Nat'l Committee Member, said, "Basically, I think she needs some attention, and she's trying to raise a little sense of crisis...I think China hasn't been doing enough...Soft power is not only about culture and arts, but also civil society...Recently we have this national image advertisement in the US...I think it should be about people...I think people are the real soft power."
